After the high court had given the order to the
Aurangabad Municipal Corporation restraining the dumping of waste at Naregaon,
the city and the AMC were left in a mess. The failure to locate a new place for
garbage disposal for the whole of a city has led to the accumulation of garbage
all over the city in huge quantity. This unattended garbage is hoarding up sidewalks,
roads and neighborhood of the entire city. There has been a notable increase in
medical health problems and viral infections in the people of the city since
the order from the high court.
The waste continues
to pile and is seen in heaps in the areas of Central Naka, Gatkal road, N-7,
N-2 etc. people are compelled to burn this collected waste to avoid
manifestation of mosquitoes and fleas and especially the shopkeepers who have
their shops on the road are suffering the most. This continued problem faced by
the residents of the city has lead the civic body to set up a special waste to
energy plant for permanent solution.
Although the project is said to take a year to become functional.
Nandkumar Ghodele, the mayor of the city says, “We have decided to set up a
waste-to-energy plant as suggested by the state level authorities. The
expression of interest (EOI) for the project would be floated on Monday. The
location of the project will be decided once the initial formalities are over.” The secretary of the urban development department is said to have
